Hi, I’m Carolina Vasquez. Hailing from Miami and now based in Cardiff, I’m a cross-media filmmaker.
Trailers, promos, mashups and video projection are what I love making. There is something really beautiful about filming people in a natural environment, especially when they momentarily forget they are being filmed. I shoot on a Canon 7d and edit on FCPX.
Commissions include filmmaking on multi-platform projects for Royal Opera House, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, National Theatre Wales, Sherman Cymru, and Mess Up the Mess Theatre Company.
My work is published in Caribbean Art and Visual Culture, Sala Rekalde Art Space Publication, and Low Lives.
Recently I received Archive Mashup training at Cyfle and a Wales Arts Arts International grant to travel to Colombia forging links between Welsh and Colombian creatives.
I also teach lens-based media across Wales and South England. My approach to workshopping with people is to teach creative skills that will empower them to create their own work now and in the future. Experimentation, mixing mediums, and peer learning are strongly encouraged.
I graduated from with a MFA in Media from Slade in 2008 and with a BFA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2005.
