This project came about when I was selected to represent Popping Pixels as their curator for 2012. Popping Pixels is an ongoing, traveling series of annual digital art exhibits. The series is unique as each year it changes curator and location.
Teaming up with the Cardiff Design Festival is an opportunity for greater audience participation and collaborative creativity throughout Cardiff. This is also a partnership with CuatrOOjos, an experimedia project uniting Welsh and Colombian artists, the same showcase of films will be shown October 2012 in Barranquilla, Colombia.
I have seen many bold short films making use of our urban landscapes, this encouraged me to create a showcase of short films inspired by, highlighting or set on the street. After creating and International call for submission, I’ve selected 15 shorts to represent the launch year of LIVING STREETS MOBILE CINEMA. The showcase of films lasts approximately 45 minutes and will travel to 5 different locations in Cardiff screening the collection of films.
